About DoD CAC

DoD CAC is an independent resource dedicated to helping military personnel, DoD civilians, and contractors navigate Common Access Card technology. We provide practical, tested guidance based on real-world experience with CAC systems.

Our Mission

The Common Access Card is essential for accessing DoD networks, signing documents, and encrypting communications. Unfortunately, official documentation can be scattered and technical. Our mission is to provide clear, step-by-step guidance that actually works—written by people who have solved these problems themselves.

Who We Are

Our content is created by former DoD IT professionals and military technology specialists with direct experience supporting CAC authentication systems:

Jack Ashford – DoD cybersecurity specialist with over 12 years supporting military IT infrastructure. Holds Security+ and CAC certifications. Worked as systems administrator for multiple DoD agencies specializing in PKI certificate management and CAC troubleshooting.
John Bigley – Former DoD IT specialist with over 12 years of experience supporting CAC authentication systems and military network infrastructure. Specializes in troubleshooting smart card issues and helping service members navigate DoD technology requirements.
Robert Chen – Military technology analyst with expertise in DoD systems integration and security protocols. Focuses on evaluation systems, personnel management technology, and CAC-enabled applications.
